[GTranslate]TORONTO – April 5, 2021: Canada exceeded the one million cases quota and stood yesterday at 1.011.367 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 7,379 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 23,090 total deaths, 28 more than on Sunday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 927,242. Ontario yesterday reached 364,537 overall positives, an increase of 2,938 new cases compared to Sunday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,450, with 10 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 331,600 or 1.761 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 2,135 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 71 of the South African variant and 103 of the Brazilian variant.
Yesterday there were 942 people still in hospital, 494 of them in intensive care and 293 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 50 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,063 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,755 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,819 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.
The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 117,466 positives yesterday, with an increase of 946 cases compared to Sunday. Meanwhile, there were 2,825 total deaths in the city, with 2 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours. 105,713 were found to be healed yesterday.
The York Region reached 35,195 total infections yesterday, with 376 more positives than on Sunday and 561 victims since the start of the pandemic, with no more deaths since the latest bulletin. Yesterday, 32,317 people were recovered, while 42 people were still in hospital, 7 of them in intensive care.
In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people tested positive for Covid-19 was 14,892 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 181 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 226 deaths, with no more new deaths recorded yesterday, while 13,621 people were cured. 18 were hospitalized, 2 of them in intensive care.
At Woodbridge yesterday there were 6,356 cases of positivity, 3,947 in Maple, 4.898 in Richmond Hill and 8.805 in Markham.
In the Peel Region yesterday there were 74,129 coronavirus positives, 536 more than the last survey and 647 total victims, with one more death than on Sunday. There were 70,073 healings recorded in total, while 2,012 people were hospitalized.
In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 26,146 yesterday, 235 more than last Sunday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 383 victims so far, with no more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 24,461 people recovered from Covid-19 and 974 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 44,724 with 288 new cases of contagion more than on Sunday. 249 confirmed deaths, with no more victims in the previous 24 hours, while 42,566 were found to be healed yesterday.
In Caledon, there were 2,856 registered infections yesterday, 24 more than on Sunday, while 2,703 had recovered and 14 victims overall, with one more death.
In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 13,384, with 91 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 322, with one more new death recorded in the last 24 hours.
In Ottawa, 18,260 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 237 positives compared to the last survey, while 468 people died, with one more new death recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 15,977.
In Quebec yesterday there were 1.252 new registered cases, for a total of 317,364 infected, along with 4 additional deaths per 10,697 total victims.
