[GTranslate]TORONTO – April 6, 2021: Canada stood yesterday at 1,018,677 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 7,310 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 23,132 total deaths, 42 more than on Monday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 935,649. Ontario yesterday reached 367,602 overall positives, an increase of 3,065 new cases compared to Monday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,458, with 8 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 333,576 or 1,976 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 2,165 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 71 of the South African variant and 106 of the Brazilian variant.
Yesterday there were 1,161 people still in hospital, 510 of them in intensive care and 310 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 52 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,069 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,755 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,838 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.
The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 118,477 positives yesterday, with an increase of 1,045 cases compared to Monday. Meanwhile, there were 2,827 total deaths in the city, with 2 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours. 106,334 were found to be healed yesterday.
The York Region reached 35,518 total infections yesterday, with 326 more positives than on Monday and 562 victims since the start of the pandemic, with one more death since the latest bulletin. Yesterday, 32,619 people were recovered, while 44 people were still in hospital, 7 of them in intensive care.
In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 was 15,038 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 149 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 226 deaths, with no more new deaths recorded yesterday, while 13,744 people were cured. 18 were hospitalized, 2 of them in intensive care.
At Woodbridge yesterday there were 6,456 cases of positivity, 4,020 in Maple, 4,936 in Richmond Hill and 8,877 in Markham.
In the Peel Region yesterday there were 74,754 coronavirus positives, 625 more than the last survey and 649 total victims, with 2 more deaths than on Monday. There were 70,504 healings recorded in total, while 2,026 people were hospitalized.
In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 26,349 yesterday, 203 more than last Monday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 384 victims so far, with one more death recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 24,635 people recovered from Covid-19 and 983 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 45,151 with 427 new cases of contagion more than on Monday. 250 confirmed deaths, with one more victim in the previous 24 hours, while 42,843 were found to be healed yesterday.
In Caledon, there were 2,893 registered infections yesterday, 37 more than on Monday, while 2,717 had recovered and 14 victims overall, with no more deaths.
In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 13,503, with 119 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 323, with one more new death recorded in the last 24 hours.
In Ottawa, 18,436 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 176 positives compared to the last survey, while 469 people died, with one more new death recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 16,115.
In Quebec yesterday there were 1.168 new registered cases, for a total of 318,532 infected, along with 4 additional deaths per 10,701 total victims.
