In Ontario 4,456 new infected and 21 more deaths

TORONTO – April 11, 2021: Canada stood yesterday at 1,058,652 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 6,113 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 23,313 total deaths, 26 more than on Saturday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 962,621. Ontario yesterday reached 386,608 overall positives, an increase of 4,456 new cases compared to Saturday, to set a daily high ever recorded in the province. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,552, with 21 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 346,239 or 2,617 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 14,387 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 78 of the South African variant and 134 of the Brazilian variant.

Yesterday there were 1,513 people still in hospital, 605 of them in intensive care – another daily high record – and 382 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 41 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,075 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,755 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,856 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.

The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 124,234 positives yesterday, with an increase of 1,457 cases compared to Saturday. Meanwhile, there were 2,862 total deaths in the city, with 14 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours. 110,316 were found to be healed yesterday.

The York Region reached 37,652, total infections yesterday, with 468 more positives than on Saturday and 566 victims since the start of the pandemic, with 2 more deaths since the latest bulletin. Yesterday, 34,001 people were recovered, while 43 people were still in hospital, 5 of them in intensive care.

In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 was 15,951 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 221 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 227 deaths, with one more new death, recorded yesterday, while 14,355 people were cured. 20 were hospitalized, one of them in intensive care.

At Woodbridge yesterday there were 6,867 cases of positivity, 4,291 in Maple, 5,286 in Richmond Hill and 9,339 in Markham.

In the Peel Region yesterday there were 78,457 coronavirus positives, 767 more than the last survey and 654 total victims, with 5 more deaths than on Saturday. There were 73,180 healings recorded in total, while 2,125 people were hospitalized.

In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 27,714 yesterday, 248 more than last Saturday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 388 victims so far, with 3 more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 25,665 people recovered from Covid-19 and 1,022 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

In Brampton the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 47,315 with 453 new cases of contagion more than on Saturday. 251 confirmed deaths, with 2 more victims in the previous 24 hours, while 44,436 were found to be healed yesterday.

In Caledon, there were 3,090 registered infections yesterday, 57 more than on Saturday, while 2,826 had recovered and 14 victims overall, with no more deaths.

In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 14,104, with 125 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 332, with one more new death recorded in the last 24 hours.

In Ottawa, 19,725 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 370 positives compared to the last survey, while 475 people died, with 5 more new deaths recorded since the last bulletin. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 16,839.

In Quebec yesterday there were 1,535 new registered cases, for a total of 326,383 infected, along with 5 additional deaths per 10,742 total victims.
