Sudden closure of restaurants,
Italian chefs organize
a flash mob in Vancouver

Marzio Pelù, March 30, 2021August 25, 2023

[GTranslate]VANCOUVER – Too many infections: almost a “lockdown” decided for restaurants in British Columbia. But the managers protest and the Italian ones in particular, led by APCI, announce a flash mob in Vancouver.

Italian chefs don’t like the sudden decision of doctor Bonnie Henry (in the pic above), the provincial health manager, who announced on Monday the “squeeze” for the public premises starting from yesterday. “We have seen the start of exponential growth,” said Dr. Henry, referring to 2,518 new cases of COVID-19 in the past three days, including a record 936 on Saturday, and the deaths of six others. The province has therefore announced that all the places that serve food and spirits will have to limit themselves to the takeaway or delivery service: indoor meals are suspended, even if the dehors will remain open but those who dine there will have to do it only with family members.

“We wonder how a restaurant can be closed in a few hours, after it has purchased the food to open to the public” comments Giovanni Trigona (in the pic below), president of APCI Canada, who adds: “We invite all fellow chefs and restaurateurs, waiters and managers, including customers, to coordinate with us from APCI Canada, Italians and non-Italians: it is a problem that affects everyone and we must organize a demonstration action. We will have a protest flash mob in downtown Vancouver, all in uniform and of course in total safety, spaced out and wearing masks. Those who want to join, write to the e-mail address apcicanada2015@gmail.com “.

The “lockdown” decided in British Columbia, among other things, also affects other activities: stop to group fitness indoors for adults, gyms and fitness centers will be limited to individual activities.
