Contagi in aumento, Elliott non si preoccupa ma Ford è più cauto

TORONTO – Nessuna inversione di rotta. Non è andato a segno l’allarme lanciato dal direttore del Science Advisory Table dell’Ontario Peter Juni in seguito al costante aumento di contagi di Covid-19 nella provincia. On Wednesday, health officials in Portugal logged 1,654 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 1.1 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 95.2% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 5 Covid-related deaths for a total of 18,222 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Infections on the rise, Elliott does not worry but Ford is more cautious

TORONTO – No turnaround. The alarm launched by the director of the Ontario Science Advisory Table Peter Juni following the constant increase in Covid-19 infections in the province did not go well. Today the Minister of Health Christine Elliott intervened on the issue and made it clear that everything is under control, the reopening plan will not change. “An increase in cases was predicted with the arrival of cold weather since people spend more time at home, and this was taken into account by the province,” she said.  Continue reading

Remembrance Day commemorations – 100 years of observances


In-person Remembrance Day services return to communities across Canada. Last year, pandemic restrictions prompted smaller, scaled down ceremonies while others were cancelled to minimize the risk of infection.

This year, things are decidedly different. The easing of restrictions and greater capacity limits mean traditional Remembrance Day ceremonies return to some semblance of normalcy, albeit with Covid-19 safety protocols in effect.

Ontario, the number of vaccinated infected people increases

TORONTO – The trend of infections in Ontario is stable. Today, provincial health officials reported 454 new cases of Covid-19 and 9 deaths which bring the total, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 9,912. The count of infections is therefore in line with those of the past few days: 441 Tuesday and 480 Monday. 636, however, the cases on Sunday. Ontario’s seven-day moving average is now 502, still high from last week (379). With 33,364 tests processed in the last 24 hours, the positive rate in the province now stands at around 1.8%.  Continue reading
