Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

TORONTO – La Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) afferma che l’ondata di recenti incidenti violenti scoppiati sulla sua rete durante il fine settimana, indica un enorme problema che richiede un impegno “a 360 gradi”. “I casi di violenza che si stanno verificando nel sistema dei trasporti di Toronto sono indicativi di qualcosa di più grande – ha detto il portavoce del TTC, Stuart Green – ci sono stati numerosi incidenti violenti in tutta la città e la GTA durante questo fine settimana, e ne abbiamo visti anche sul TTC. Quindi, tutto ciò è motivo di grande preoccupazione”…

TORONTO – The first joint press conference of the strange couple Doug Ford – Olivia Chow (Conservative / NDP) began with an old “family photo”: the one shown to journalists by the premier of Ontario, portraying Doug’s brother, former mayor Rob (first citizen from 2010 to 2014, passed away in 2016), along with Olivia’s husband, Jack Layton (passed away in 2011), NDP city councilor at the time. Two polar opposite political figures, therefore, but “united by the desire to do good for the city”, underlined Ford, who donated the photo to Chow (and she thanked him, moved) before officially starting the press conference which began under the best auspices, confirmed by what was announced by the two leaders. →

TORONTO – A demonstration is scheduled for tonight, Wednesday 13 September, starting at 8pm, at the Marian Shrine located at 3100 Weston Road in Toronto, in defense of the place which is frequented by thousands of faithful but which is at risk after being purchased from a real estate company. The premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, is also expected to attend the protest. Some city councilors will be present, including Anthony Perruzza (author of a motion in defense of the Marian Shrine), some trustees of the Toronto Catholic District School Board and several political personalities.
