Covid-19 new modelling: high number of hospitalizations, the guard remains high

TORONTO – The Ontario Science Table’s latest projections – the first in 2022 – suggest that following the lifting of some restrictions this week the peak of hospitalizations may be prolonged. Predictions about what will happen in the near future use three different scenarios based on different levels of immunity acquired through infection to chart the path forward.

Covid-19 in Ontario, positivity never so high since May

TORONTO – Just take a few more swabs and immediately the number of new Covid-19 cases skyrockets: 928 registrations today in Ontario out of a total of 26,000 tests processed, with the positivity rate reaching 3.8% that is the highest percentage since the end of May (yesterday, with 25,981 tests and 887 cases, the rate was 3.5%). Ontario, fewer cases but the positivity rate remains high

TORONTO – Ontario can breathe, at least for 24 hours: after the 636 new cases registered on Sunday – the highest number of infections in a single day in almost a month – today the province registered 480 new infections, more in line with last week’s Monday’s 422, albeit far above the 326 of two weeks ago. The seven-day moving average of is now 476: a week ago it was 362.  (more…)
