Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. TORONTO – Hospitalizations of Covid inpatients continue to increase in Ontario: today there were 807 people with the virus admitted to hospitals in the province, an increase from 778 yesterday and especially from 661 just a week ago (+ 22%) . Today’s is the highest number of hospitalizations since March 4, when 821 people with the virus were hospitalized. In intensive care there are 166 positive inpatients (yesterday 165, a week ago 165). →

TORONTO – There are no doubts. Ontario is now in the midst of a sixth wave of pandemic. This was stated by the director of the Covid-19 Science Advisory Table of Ontario Peter Juni. “You only have to look at our wastewater to understand that this is indeed the case,” he said, “the highly contagious sub-variant of Omicron BA.2 cannot be blamed for the increase in the number of cases in Ontario that is instead linked to having thrown caution to the wind.”
TORONTO – Hospitalizations from and with Covid-19 in Ontario continue to grow: today in the province’s hospitals there were 778 people, down from 790 yesterday, even a sharp increase compared to 611 a week ago. 165 patients in intensive care (92 with ventilators to breathe), the same number as yesterday. As for infections, 2,814 were recorded today but, due to the limitation of texts to “at risk” categories only, according to experts that the real number of infections could be about 10 times that figure. →
The provincial electoral district of Sault Ste. Marie (the Sault), situated in Northern Ontario, is about a 700 km drive northwest from Toronto. The constituency is located at the southern tip of Lake Superior along St. Mary’s River, just north of the international boundary between Canada and the US. It is where the largest of the Great Lakes flows into Lake Huron. The St. Marie’s International Bridge is the only fixed link crossing between both countries and a key trade route for Canadian and American markets.
With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 32.0 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on March 30, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 8,484 vaccine doses on Tuesday, up from, 5,967 doses the day prior.

TORONTO – The Ontario government will impose hefty fines on those caught reselling personal protective equipment provided by the government for free as part of a broader package of laws whose purpose is to “safely manage Covid-19 long-haul”. The regulation is part of a larger legislative package – the “plan to stay open” – that the government is working on.
The provincial electoral district of Thunder Bay – Atikokan (TBA) is situated just west of Thunder Bay – Superior North along the north shore of Lake Superior. Located about 1,600km northwest of the capital, by car it would take about 18 hours (nonstop) to reach Ottawa.
The district covers an area of 25,600 square km (about the same size as Sicily). It encompasses the town of Atikokan and the south side of the City of Thunder Bay. The oddly shaped riding dips south to the Canada/US boundary. →
