Trudeau resignation, the oppositions unanimously: “The real ruin is the Liberals”. And Trump insists: “Canada 51st State”

Marzio Pelù, January 6, 2025January 6, 2025

OTTAWA – What will change after Justin Trudeau’s step back? Nothing, according to Conservative opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, at least as long as the Liberals govern, because “every Liberal MP in power today and every potential Liberal leadership contender fighting for the top job helped Justin Trudeau break the country over the last 9 years”.

“All Liberal politicians – said Poilievre after Trudeau’s resignation as Liberal leader (he will remain Prime Minister pro tempore, in prorogation, until March 24) – actively worked to pass into law the job-killing, inflationary carbon tax—a tax that Carbon Tax Carney endorsed in his book. All supported a law quadrupling the tax over the next 5 years. All voted for or actively supported Trudeau’s out-of-control spending, debt and immigration. All passed Trudeau’s housing policies that doubled the cost of homes. All Liberal politicians helped pass catch-and-release bail and house arrest for the most rampant reoffenders, policies that increased violent crime 50%, gun crime 116% and hate crime by 250%” …and if all these Liberal politicians are dumping Trudeau now, according to Poilievre it is not because they ” they feel guilty”, but only because they think that “their” prime minister is no longer popular enough to win an election and keep them in power. “They want to protect their pensions and paycheques by sweeping their hated leader under the rug months before an election to trick you, and then do it all over again” says Poilievre promising that the Conservatives will instead “axe the tax, build the houses, fix the budget and stop crime and drugs”, ensuring “affordable food and homes on safe streets” (here below, the whole video).

Very similar statements by Jagmeet Singh, leader of the NDP, even if he supported Justin Trudeau’s government for a long time, until a few weeks ago. “The Liberals let down Canadians on home prices, on health care and by allowing corporate greed to run wild” and the problem, Singh says, “is not just Trudeau. It’s every minister that’s been calling the shots. It’s every Liberal MP that looked down their nose at Canadians who are worried about high costs or crumbling health care. The Liberals do not deserve another chance, no matter who is the leader” and he concludes by asking “who oppose callous Conservative cuts to health care, and everyone who opposes the rich getting richer while everyone else falls further behind, to stand together this time to stop the Conservatives and build Canada’s first government for working people” (here below, a part of the NDP’s statement; the whole one is here and the video from CPAC is here).

Bloc leader Yves-François Blanchet was lapidary, announcing that he will not work with any new Liberal leader because Justin Trudeau has “deeply transformed” that party. “There is no possible way for this party to become something else in a few weeks” he said (here below, the whole video).

Finally, the inevitable comment of the President in pectore of the United States, Donald Trump, who returned to the charge with the idea of ”Canadian annexation”. “Many people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State. The United States – Trump wrote on ‘Truth’ (here below, the screenshot) – can no longer suffer the massive Trade Deficits and Subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat. Justin Trudeau knew this, and resigned. If Canada merged with the U.S., there would be no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them. Together, what a great Nation it would be!!!”.
