The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,295 total deaths, 36 more than on Monday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 839,930. Ontario yesterday reached 311,112 overall positives, an increase of 1,185 new cases compared to Monday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,083, with 6 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 292,806, or 972 more than the previous 24 hours. Covid-19, St. Francis Xavier school closed

[GTranslate]TORONTO – The list of schools closed in Ontario for the Coronavirus emergency is growing. The latest in the series is St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, where eight students and three staff have been infected since the outbreak on February 27. Since yesterday, the school at 53 Gracefield Avenue in North York has been closed. “As you know, as far as Covid-19 is concerned, we follow the recommendations of Toronto Public Health – said the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) at CP24 – the school will be temporarily closed starting today. And if it is translated into all the languages of the world, even distances fall. It’s what happened with “Parliamo con gli occhi” (“Let’s talk with our eyes”), which in a few months has become a sort of multilingual anthem (from Italian to Afrikaans, an end to the language of Native Canadians) that embraces the world just when the world itself cannot. Non possiamo vederci, è vietato abbracciarsi. E chi è lontano resta lontano, perché non possiamo viaggiare. Ma c’è la poesia, che unisce i cuori. E se tradotta in tutte le lingue del mondo, cancella anche le distanze. Come è accaduto con “Parliamo con gli occhi”, che in pochi mesi è diventata una sorta di inno multilingue (dall’Italiano all’Afrikaans, fino alla lingua dei Nativi Canadesi) che abbraccia il mondo proprio quando il mondo stesso non può farlo. Covid-19 in Canada, 88.4% of victims is over 70 years old

A year later, with over 2.6 million deaths and 117 million cases worldwide, it is time to present a first, partial balance sheet, for a phenomenon that is still ongoing and represents a continuous threat, with the third wave also on the horizon in Canada and with the real risk represented by the variants of the virus. In Canada, according to data from Health Canada, a whole of 897,292 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded.
