“All’Alba Vincerò”: Puccini’s recital with the most beautiful opera arias on stage in Ottawa

Marzio Pelù, October 4, 2024October 4, 2024

OTTAWA – The music of Maestro Giacomo Puccini knows no boundaries and from Torre del Lago, in Tuscany (Italy), it crosses the ocean to reach Canada, in the capital Ottawa: it is here, in fact, that the opera recital “All’Alba Vincerò!” will be held next Tuesday, October 8th. A true musical journey through the masterpieces of the great Maestro.

The evening will feature some talented Italian artists in the breathtaking performance of Puccini’s most beloved arias: the soprano Claudia Pavone, the tenor Valerio Borgioni and the pianist Chiara Mariani, directly from the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, one of the most important in Italy and certainly the most important in the world among those dedicated to the Maestro who lived and created his masterpieces right in Torre del Lago, on the banks of the Massaciuccoli.

The recital program is thrilling: the most famous arias from La Bohème (“Che gelida manina”, “Mi chiamano Mimì” and “O soave fanciulla”), Tosca (“E lucevan le stelle” and “Vissi d ‘arte”), Madama Butterfly (“Un bel dì vedremo”, “Bimba dagli occhi pieni di malìa” e “Addio, fiorito asil”), Turandot (“Nessun dorma”) and other Puccinian compositions.

The concert in Ottawa will celebrate the legacy of the great Italian composer in the year of the centenary of his death (which occurred on 29 November 1924), as well as the inclusion of “The art of Italian opera singing” in the UNESCO World Heritage List Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The event will therefore take place on Tuesday 8 October at 5.30pm at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Center (entrance located at 290 Lisgar Street) in Ottawa and is promoted by the Italian Embassy and the “Pucciniano Festival” foundation (seats can be booked online on this link).
