Delta variants are spreading at an alarming rate in the villages of Bangladesh

Muhammad Ali Bukhari, June 11, 2021August 25, 2023

The previous simple calculation is changing in Bangladesh. The delta variant identified in India is now spreading in its villages. Experts say the speed at which the infection is spreading may be out of control at some point. This situation is almost the same in the 32 districts around the border area. The health department thought that corona in Bangladesh would not be so prevalent in villages than urban areas. Now they say the situation is dire.

The former World Health Organization scientist, Mozaherul Haque described the overall situation is as dire. According to him, the Delta variant, which was first identified in India, is now spreading rapidly, which we can see in the villages of our country. It is not possible to handle this situation without proper work plan, as the medical system in the hospitals outside capital Dhaka is not developed at all. Moreover, this many infections have not been occurred in Bangladesh before. That is why we have to look at the situation not with emotion, but with finding the appropriate reason for it.

From the description of a physician one gets an in-depth idea about the scenario of the villages. Medicine expert AKM Jahin went to Thakurgaon. In his practicing chamber, one by one 15 patients came, there 14 of them came with fever. As a result, seeing so many patients, he wrote on social media that, he was shocked and surprised. None of these patients agreed to be tested. Not only in Thakurgaon but also in Rajshahi, Khulna and Rangpur divisions the picture is almost the same. There are no empty beds in hospitals. New words are being created, even though Covid patients are also lying on the floor of Rajshahi Medical. Saiful Ferdous, deputy director of the hospital said the new ward creation is beyond manageable as well. The Covid unit has 264 beds. At the moment there are 26 patients. The situation in Satkhira is deteriorating further. In the last 24 hours, the corona detection rate is about 80 percent.

The current Coronavirus situation has claimed 36 more lives in the last 24 hours. At this time, 2,536 people are being newly infected. Meanwhile, the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has updated travel advisory for its citizens due to the corona deterioration situation in Bangladesh. It has been listed as the highest risk prone country. It warned, avoid traveling to Bangladesh at this moment. If still needs to travel to Bangladesh, make sure of taking the full dose of the vaccine beforehand. The CDC further said that in the current situation in Bangladesh, even those receiving the full dose of vaccine would be at risk.
