Covid, nearly 800 cases and 6 deaths in Ontario

TORONTO – After the temporary decline recorded Tuesday, today the growth of infections in Ontario resumed, as already recorded in the previous days: the province has in fact 780 new infections (and another 6 deaths). Going backwards, the infections had been: 687 Tuesday, 788 Monday, 964 Sunday and 854 Saturday. A week ago, last Wednesday, they were 591. The seven-day moving average of new cases reaches 821: a significant increase compared to a week ago (686) and, above all, the highest average since last June 4 when it was 844. The positivity rate also continues to grow: with 35,300 tests processed in the last 24 hours and 780 infections, the index is now 3.1%, compared to 2.5% a week ago. →

On Tuesday, Ontario reached a grim milestone after public health officials reported three more Covid-related deaths for a total of 10,000 fatalities attributable to the virus since the start of the pandemic. An additional 687 new infections were logged, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 618,400. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 97.3% are considered recovered. →

With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 22.9 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on November 30, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 27,129 vaccine doses on Monday, up from 22,442 doses the day prior.

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of November 29, 2021, at 4:45 pm EST.

On Monday, health officials in Russia logged 33,860 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 9.6 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 86.4% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 1,209 Covid-related deaths for a total of 273,964 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Covid-19, hospitalizations continue to grow in Ontario

TORONTO – Another 788 new ones from Covid-19, 3 deaths and hospitalizations that attest to growing. Numbers still not very reassuring for Ontario, where the moving average of daily cases calculated over seven days is now approaching 800: today it was 782, a week ago it was 656. It is true that today’s case count is down from Sunday, when 964 new infections were confirmed (the highest number in a single day since last May), but the number of new infections is a substantial jump from the 627 cases of last Monday. →
