Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

On Wednesday, health officials in the US logged 50,150 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 46 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 77.7% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 1,273, bringing the total number of fatalities to 750,068.
With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 22.2 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on October 20, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 25,284 vaccine doses on Monday, up from 21,310 doses the day prior.

Some things are so blatantly absurd that even the least educated among us ought to see the point. Our paper is in the business of reporting news, providing a modicum of objective analysis and commenting on matters of general interest. Occasionally, we will indulge in opinion pieces focusing on “personalities who are in the public limelight” because they have a publicly mandated role, which affords them merit or criticism based on how they discharge their obligations to the public.
