Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide


Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of October 13, 2021, at 5:00 pm EST.

On Wednesday, health officials in the UK logged 42,776 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 8.2 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 81.8% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 136, bringing the total number of fatalities to 138,080.

Overcrowded classrooms during the pandemic? It’s not my fault…

TORONTO – Rule number one: it’s not my fault. In the chaos in which Ontario’s Education sector finds itself, characterized by accusations, invective, controversies, complaints, retaliation and divisions, we have witnessed the most classic blame game on the responsibilities in a situation that is becoming unsustainable, especially in the Toronto Catholic District School Board. To try to understand what is happening, we must necessarily start from a fact: starting from October 12 there has been a merger of dozens of classes in many schools of the Catholic Board, with the consequent increase in the number of students in the individual classrooms. Ontario, infections are still going down: 306

TORONTO – Covid-19, the positive trend continues in Ontario. today 306 new cases were recorded (out of 23,219 tests processed), a sharp decline compared to 390 on Tuesday, 458 on Monday, 535 on Sunday and 654 on Saturday. It is therefore the fifth consecutive day of decreases in the daily case count and today is also the lowest number of new daily infections since last August 5, when 213 cases were recorded.  (more…)
