60% of Toronto adults fully vaccinated

Francesco Veronesi, July 12, 2021August 25, 2023

TORONTO – Ontario’s Covid-19 immunization campaign continues unabated. While the provincial government has decided to bring forward phase 3 of its roadmap on reopenings, with the relaxation of numerous restrictions starting from Friday, at the local level the municipal administrations have decided to change strategy to reach more and more people in this fight against time: if in recent weeks the focus was on neighborhoods where the incidence of the Delta variant was greater , starting today, more doses of vaccine will be sent to areas where the vaccination rate is lowest.

In Toronto, the city authorities have said, some priority areas have been identified: elms – Old Rexdale, Kingsview Village – The Westway, Mount Dennis, Mount Olive-Silverstone-Jamestown, Weston and Englemount-Lawrence.

According to the data provided daily by the covid19tracker.ca, since last December in Ontario a total of 17,119,624 doses have been administered: in the last twenty-four years it has reached 121,653. In the province 6,966,273 people have finished their vaccination path, having received the first dose and booster injection with one of the vaccines approved by Health Canada, namely AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer.

At the national level, however, so far 42,702,842 doses have been administered: 26,225,288 Canadians have received the first, while a total of 16,477,554 citizens are completely immunized.

These are hopeful numbers, also because – as the federal health authorities confirmed today – vaccine supplies to Canada will remain constant throughout the summer. By the end of this week our country will have received a total of over 55 million doses of vaccine. The federal government, according to the roadmap presented last month, has budgeted for the delivery to Canada of 68 million doses by the end of July, a sufficient quantity to immunize all Canadians with the requirements established by the health authorities and who logically want it.

Also at the federal level, Canadians who received the first and second doses of the vaccine account for 42 percent of residents.

today, finally, the federal government confirmed that within the next seven days 1.4 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be delivered to Canada. At the same time, 1.5 million doses sent by Moderna will be delivered to the provinces this week.
