Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of June 1, 2021 at 6:00pm EST.
On Tuesday, health officials in Ontario logged 699 new infections. This marks lowest single-day increase since October 18, 2020 when the province reported 658 cases. With more than 532,000 total confirmed cases since the onset of the pandemic, 96.2% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 9 for a total of 8,766 fatalities.
Improving the State of Health Outcomes Globally

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to sweep across the globe, the constant barrage of case numbers, variants, total Covid-related deaths and now vaccination rates are impossible to ignore. Data coming from the World Health Organization (WHO) warns the true number of Covid-related deaths is likely 2-3 higher than the official count of 3.5 million.
Ford is planning to keep schools closed until September
Doug Ford seems to be adamant. Schools will remain closed until autumn. Sources told CTV News Toronto that members of the government’s planning and priorities committee met on Monday and decided not to allow schools to reopen for the final weeks of the school year, even on a regional basis. Museus de História de Toronto lançam nova programação virtual do Mês dos Povos Indígenas

O lançamento oficial do Mês dos Povos Indígenas nos Museus de História de Toronto, um grupo de 10 museus pertencentes e operados pela cidade de Toronto, teve lugar esta terça-feira (1 de junho).
A celebração online com duração de um mês incluirá guias, um programa de culinária, uma experiência de compra que inclui produtos de artistas e autores indígenas, e apresentações de filmes e dança de artistas emergentes e consagrados.
Toronto History Museums launches new virtual Indigenous Peoples Month Programming

The official launch of Indigenous Peoples Month at Toronto History Museums, a group of 10 museums owned and operated by the City of Toronto, took place this Tuesday (June 1).
The month-long online celebration will include tours, a culinary program, a shop experience that includes products from Indigenous artists and authors, and film and dance performances by emerging and established artists.
Premier Ford urged to reopen the economy
TORONTO – Pressure is growing on the government to loosen restrictions in Ontario. With data confirming that the third wave of the pandemic is now in the drips – yesterday there were only 699 new cases, the lowest since October 2020 – there are increasing demands for an acceleration of the reopening of the provincial economy also compared to the extremely prudent roadmap presented last week by Doug Ford and The Minister of Health Christine Elliott.
