Covid-19 in Ontario, down deaths and hospitalizations

TORONTO – On the day Ontario is going to fall the obligation to wear a mask in most indoor public spaces, including shopping malls, schools and restaurants, the province records “only” 3 deaths from Covid-19, leading to 12,332 the total number of coronavirus victims since the start of the pandemic. 

However, the province was unable to provide the total number of hospitalized patients in all wards today: not all hospitals communicate data over the weekend. Data which, therefore, may be incomplete. In intensive care, the number of patients would still be 182, decreasing. Of these, 97 breathe with the help of a ventilator, while in total (including ordinary crimes) the Covid-patients would be 551.

1,680 cases detected today through molecular tests (limited only to the “at risk” categories): 200 concern unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people, 452 people with two doses of the vaccine, 946 people with three doses of the vaccine and 82 people whose status vaccination is unknown. The provincial laboratories processed 10,967 test samples, with a positivity rate of 12%. Positivity averaged around 12.5% ​​in the last seven days. The active and known cases in Ontario are now, officially, 16,509.

In Quebec, on Friday (latest data available as we write) Covid patients in hospitals in the province fell by 13: in total, there are 1,021 people receiving treatment for the virus, including 45 patients in intensive care units. with a decrease of 5.

In all, 76 new patients: of these, 38 have been vaccinated three times, 13 twice, 7 are not vaccinated and 4 patients have received a single dose of the vaccine.

The French-speaking province also added 13 new deaths bringing the total, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 14,245.

1,170 new positive cases, resulting from 14,528 tests. But it is from the self-declarations made by the citizens in the portal activated by the Quebec government that a more precise picture of the situation is revealed: out of 425 do-it-yourself tests self-declared by the citizens, 353 were positive.

In total, 111,600 rapid tests have been entered since the portal was activated, of which 87,440 were positive. However, the active and known cases in the province are officially 13,282.
