Marzio Pelù, February 6, 2022August 25, 2023

TORONTO – The number of hospitalizations for (or with) Covid-19 in Ontario is still decreasing: today the hospitalizations in the province were 2,230, the lowest number since last January 5 and in any case in sharp decline compared to the 2,493 on Saturday and to the 2,634 Friday, although the data is not complete because not all hospitals report the data over the weekend.

The number of people reported in intensive care in Ontario has also decreased: today it was 486, for the first time below 500 since last January 11.

Still high, however, the number of deaths: 56 today.

As for the infections, 2,887 were recorded today, but the number represents an underestimate, due to the limitation of access to texts only to “at risk” categories. With 17,502 tests processed in the last 24 hours, the province’s positivity rate is 11.8%, down from 13.5% a week ago.

As of today, 89% of Ontarians 5 years of age or older received one dose of the vaccine, 84% two doses and 46% three.

Since the start of the pandemic, 1,054,061 cases of laboratory-confirmed coronavirus have been recorded in Ontario and 1,007,322 have recovered. 11,826, however, the victims.

The active and known cases in Ontario are, on the other hand, currently 34,913.

Same trend in Quebec: total hospitalizations dropped, but today there were another 22 people, bringing the pandemic of victims in the province, from the beginning of death, to 13,475.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, there are 36 fewer inpatients and the number of beds occupied in intensive care units has decreased by four units. In total, there are now 2,411 patients in hospitals, of which 177 are in intensive care.

As for infections, 2,568 of them were recorded today out of 26,131 tests analyzed, for a positivity rate of 10.4%.

As for vaccines, 91% of the population over the age of 5 in Quebec received one dose, 85% two doses, and 47% three.

Since the start of the pandemic, 880,952 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Quebec and 823,271 people have recovered. There are currently 44,206 active and non-active cases.

Finally, let’s see the situation of hospitalizations throughout Canada, province by province (today’s data): Ontario 2,230, Quebec 2,411, Alberta 1,584, British Columbia 946, Manitoba 517, Saskatchewan 345, New Brunswick 159, Nova Scotia 102, Newfoundland and Labrador 20, Prince Edward Island 10.

Across Canada, 3,124,094 coronavirus infections have been recorded since the start of the pandemic, 2,910,418 people have recovered and 34,716 people have died. There are now 177,745 active and known cases in Canada.
