Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Sudden leap forward in the positivity rate of Covid-19 in Ontario: from 12.2% on Sunday to 17.9% today. Only at the end of January it was so high. And this despite the low number of tests carried out because of the limitation of swabs to the “at risk” categories only: just over 6,200 tests processed in the last 24 hours, which revealed the presence of 1,741 positive people. →
TORONTO – Staying in Northern Ontario, the next provincial electoral district our series covers is that of Thunder Bay – Superior North (TBSN). The constituency is situated in Northwestern Ontario along the north shore of Lake Superior. It is located approximately 1,300km northwest of Toronto, a mere 15-hour drive – non stop.
With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 32.0 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on March 28, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 3,928 vaccine doses on Sunday, down from, 10,358 doses the day prior.
