Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – The majority of the world’s wealth is in the hands of 1% of the population. A disconcerting figure, what emerges from the latest report by Oxfam, published in conjunction with the start of the World Economic Forum in Davos in Switzerland, according to which in the last two years the 1% of the richest people have accumulated almost two thirds of all the new wealth created in the world. NAPLES – She travels 1,600 kilometers a day by train to go to work and back home. Apparently it’s less expensive given the rental prices. These days, it is no exaggeration to define the worker Giuseppina Giuliano, a 29-year-old school worker, stoic: every day the Naples-Milan route (and back) is made by train because the city of the Madonnina, where she works as a janitor at the art school ” Boccioni” in piazzale Arduino, is too expensive and therefore, on balance, it is more advantageous to take the train and stay and live with her parents in Naples. TORONTO – La riforma del sistema sanitario dell’Ontario annunciata dal premier Doug Ford non è di certo passata inosservata. Il progetto che dà più spazio alle cliniche private è al centro di critiche per le implicazioni che questa decisione potrebbe avere. E così mentre l’Ontario si muove per consentire alle strutture for profit di eseguire più interventi chirurgici, il primo ministro Justin Trudeau pur non affermando se sostiene la mossa di Ford, ha detto che lui e i premier sono “sulla stessa lunghezza d’onda” quando si tratta del sistema sanitario che necessita di maggiori investimenti e, di conseguenza, di una migliore assistenza per i canadesi…
TORONTO – L’economia canadese affronterà un rallentamento “più pronunciato di quanto si pensasse”, ma sarà comunque “lieve e di breve durata” rispetto alle precedenti recessioni, secondo le ultime previsioni contenute in un rapporto – pubblicato ieri – di Deloitte, la società di consulenza e servizi finanziari…
TORONTO – Rallenta l’inflazione in Canada, ma i prezzi dei beni che compongo il carrello della spesa restano su valori record. La conferma arriva dal rapporto mensile di Statistics Canada che mette in luce come l’inflazione nel nostro Paese a dicembre sia arrivata al 6,3 per cento su base annua, in leggera contrazione rispetto al 6,8 registrato a novembre ma ancora molto alta. Con questi valori è pressoché certo che Bank of Canada proseguirà con la sua politica di rialzo dei tassi d’interesse, con un prossimo aumento dello 0,25 per cento…
