AMLO seeks support from Canada for the mining company to cover its income taxes
Mexico’s president asked Ottawa through its Embassy in Mexico to support the Canadian mining company First Majestic Silver Corp. to cover its tax obligations, which it estimates of $500 million dollars.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) said: “Hopefully, the Embassy of Canada in Mexico will make them come to their senses. We cannot allow mining companies not to pay taxes”, and added: “In Canada -as in any country- companies pay for the extraction of minerals. We don’t want to increase taxes; we just want them to pay”.
