Professor Gianluigi Bisleri speaker
of the Italian Research Day in the World

[GTranslate]TORONTO – Dr. Gianluigi Bisleri, Italian, cardiovascular surgeon at St. Michael’s Hospital and Associate Professor at the Division of Cardiac Surgery of the University of Toronto, will be the official speaker of the fourth edition of the Italian Research Day in the World, scheduled for Thursday 15 April at 4pm (EDT).

The event, organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Italian Cultural Institute in Toronto and the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, aims to highlight the contribution of Italian researchers in the fields of science, technology and Innovation and this year features a live webinar and a video.

The title of the online seminar is “New Minimally Invasive Techniques in Cardiac Surgery” and will be curated by Professor Gianluigi Bisleri who will be introduced by the Consul General of Italy in Toronto, Eugenio Sgrò. “I am extremely honored – Professor Bisleri wrote on Twitter – to have been invited as a speaker at the Italian Research Day in the World to share the exciting #innovations in #cardiac #surgery and #interventions”. Professor Gianluigi Bisleri (in the pic), who graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Brescia in Italy, summa cum laude, in 2001, after a residency in Cardiology at the University of Padua, obtained a research grant in arrhythmia and minimally invasive / robotic surgery at Presbyterian Medical Center in New York and clinical fellowships at the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze, Poland, and Essex Cardiothoracic Center in Basildon, United Kingdom.

From 2006 to 2016 he was a cardiac surgeon at the University of Brescia where he became first assistant and then associate professor of surgery as well as co-director of the arrhythmia program and director of the aortic surgery program.

From 2016 to 2020, Prof. Bisleri joined Queen’s University and Kingston Health Sciences Center, where his experience contributed to the development of new approaches for minimally invasive cardiac surgery and cardiac arrhythmia treatment. He also is investigator for Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute.

Also on April 15, on the YouTube channel of the Italian Cultural Institute Toronto, the Italian journalist Barbara Gallavotti, scientific consultant of the Leonardo Da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, will present information on aging and longevity, with particular attention to styles of Mediterranean life and nutrition, the habits and effects they and other components have a decisive effect on the ability to live longer, in good health.
