Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – They undulate, but remain around 700: this is now the average of new daily infections in Ontario. Today 740 were recorded, fewer than 835 on Saturday but up from 722 on last Sunday. The weekly average, to be precise, is now 688, compared to 564 a week ago. Of the new cases recorded today, 551 involve people who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 189 those who are fully vaccinated. →
TORONTO – The balance of power between the parties is changing. At the beginning of the third week of the election campaign, the Conservatives consolidate the advantage over the Liberal Party, completely overturning the balance in voting intentions in view of the electoral round on September 20th. →
TORONTO – I respect anyone who puts her/his name on a ballot for election. It is rarely a soft exercise; most often it is at best “rough and tumble”. Our democratic institutions need people prepared to take the hits on our behalf. Democracy is not a process for the feint of heart or for those easily offended. →
KABUL – In 2021 Afghanistan, music is also a crime. It is enough to sing to risk your life. And so Fawad Andarabi, who could not live without singing, was killed. The Taliban brutally murdered him. They dragged him out of his home in Andarab in the southern part of Baghlan province. And they “executed” him. →
