Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of January 23, 2022, at 5:20 pm EST.

On Sunday, health officials in Poland logged 34,088 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 4.5 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 85.2% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 25 Covid-related deaths for a total of 103,844 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী অ্যান্টনি ব্লিনকেন তার সাম্প্রতিক এশিয়া প্যাসিফিক অঞ্চলে ভারসাম্য পুনঃপ্রতিষ্ঠায় সম্পন্ন ষষ্ঠ সফরের উপর গত শুক্রবার কংগ্রেসের এক শুনানিতে বাংলাদেশে সম্ভাব্য ইসলামি সন্ত্রাসী গ্রুপ আইএসআইএল ও দায়েসের উত্থান নিয়ে মন্তব্য করেছেন। এ সময় তাকে প্রশ্ন করেন কংগ্রেসের স্মল বিজনেস কমিটির চেয়ার এবং ওয়াইয়ো অঙ্গরাজ্যের প্রথম কংগ্রেসোনাল ডিস্ট্রিক্টের রিপাবলিকান প্রতিনিধি স্টিভেন জোসেফ চাবট।

Blinken stresses countering ‘ISIL and Daesh’ in Bangladesh

The U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken has remarked about Islamic terrorist groups like ISIL and Daesh can potentially take root in Bangladesh in a U.S. Congressional hearing on his recent rebalance visit to the sixth Asia Pacific region held on Friday as questioned by the House Small Business Committee Chair and State of Ohio’s first congressional district representative from the Republican Party, Steven Joseph Chabot.

Covid-19: another 56 dead in Ontario, but hospitalizations are still dropping

TORONTO – The total number of hospitalizations for Covid-19 in Ontario falls, but the number of victims remains high: today 56 were registered (a boy under the age of 19 also died during the weekend in Toronto), bringing the total deaths in Ontario, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 10,968. On the other hand, hospitalizations drop – we said – to 3,797, compared to 4,026 on Saturday, even if it should be remembered that not all hospitals provide the data on weekends. There was a slight increase in the number of beds occupied in intensive care, from 600 on Saturday to 604 today.
