Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of January 9, 2022, at 4:15 pm EST.

On Sunday, health officials in Greece logged 18,592 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 1.5 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 70.8% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 66 Covid-related deaths for a total of 21,394 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

School, pressure of pediatricians on the government: “Reopen or serious effects on children”

TORONTO – After the parents, pediatricians take the field. The Canadian Paediatric Society, the Pediatrics Section of the Ontario Medical Association and the Pediatricians Alliance of Ontario have written an open letter to Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Education Minister Stephen Lecce urging them to resume face-to-face classes in schools by January 17.

Money Can Buy Me Love: Beatles 1964, Doug Ford 2022

TORONTO – The original Beatles title contained a negative. Ford is trying to correct that. The next provincial election is June 2, 2022. Between now and the end of May, any Provincial Government announcements or statements by Opposition leaders and their parties (Liberal and NDP) will have this date as a focus and purpose. Barring any egregious scandal, the incumbent government – Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives – already look and act like the eventual winners. They shouldn’t be.
