Covid-19, Del Duca writes to Ford: “Let’s work together for the people of Ontario”

TORONTO – “Ontario’s Covid-19 numbers are starting to be worrying and schools will shortly reopen: it’s time we all unite and work together for the people of Ontario”: the appeal is from Steven Del Duca (in the pic above, from his Twitter profile), Ontario Liberal Party’s leader, in a letter sent to premier Doug Ford and all the majority and opposition political parties and to representatives of associations of doctors, nurses, teachers and public employees and trade unions. “Dear Premier Ford – reads the letter by Del Duca – , I am writing today, once again, regarding the urgent need for responsible leadership on clear vaccine mandates and a province-wide vaccine certificate. There is significant and growing consensus on these matters from leaders in health care, education, business and the municipal sector. I believe we all share the same goal, which is to minimize the negative impact of a fourth COVID-19 wave here in Ontario, and to get through this pandemic as soon as possible”.

“I am urging you – Del Duca asks to Ford – to take a meeting with the leaders of all of Ontario’s opposition parties, key stakeholders in the healthcare, education and business sectors, municipal leaders, and public health officials. I further believe that Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore, and Ontario Science Advisory Table Chair, Dr. Steini Brown should participate in this discussion”.

“Given that Ontario’s COVID-19 numbers continue to be worrisome and given that schools and campuses province-wide are set to re-open shortly, this is a moment at which decisive and competent leadership is needed. I stand ready to assist in any way that I can – Del Duca adds – and am sincerely hopeful that you will agree with the need for all of us to come together, and to work together, for the people of Ontario”.

In a tweet, today, Del Duca published also a video (here below) to re-launch the appeal, adding that “other provinces are taking steps to get through the fourth wave. Ontario needs a vaccine certificate that’s required to help our venues & establishments stay open. Let’s work together and get this right for the people of Ontario”.
