Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of June 13, 2021 at 4:30pm EST.

On Sunday, health officials in Poland logged 224 new infections, the lowest single day increase in roughly one year. Of the cumulative 2.8 million confirmed positive cases, 92% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 11 bringing the total fatalities to 74,573.

Brampton man launches campaign calling for no more weed shops in the city

June 18 will mark the somber one-year anniversary of the horrific crash in Brampton that killed Karolina Ciasullo and her three innocent children. To honour the family and put an end to such deadly crashes caused by impaired drivers, 22-year old Brampton activist Cody Vatcher, spearheaded a campaign ( to put a freeze on pot shops opening in Brampton. Canada will donate 13 million Covid-19 vaccine doses to developing countries

TORONTO – The joint effort of the G7 countries will be aimed at ending the Covid-19 pandemic in 2022. This was reiterated today in the final communiqué of the summit in Cornwall. “The Covid-19 pandemic – reads the final message of G7 leaders – will not be under control anywhere until it is everywhere. In an interconnected world, global health and threats to health security do not respect borders.” (more…)

Canada and Ontario invest over $12 million to fund infrastructure projects in Vaughan

This weekend marked a fresh start for the people of Ontario. Restaurant patio’s opened for in-person dining and non-essential retailers welcomed shoppers back for the first time in months, albeit under strict guidelines.

While the province is taking a measured approach at reopening to ensure a healthy and safe transition to the next stage, an injection of more than $12 million from both levels of government for infrastructure projects in Vaughan will help rebuild businesses, promote job creation and encourage growth and investment in the city.

Nathaniel Veltman and his fatal truck attack on Muslim family

Nathaniel Veltman, the man facing murder charges in the truck attack of a Muslim family at the intersection of Hyde Park Road and South Carriage Road in London, Ontario has left no traces on social media about his life, but a neighbor who spoke to CBC News said while the 20-year-old kept to himself, he’d have frequent and noisy gatherings in his downtown apartment.
