Status update of Covid-19 Cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of April 4, 2022, at 5:00pm EST.

On Monday, health officials in Canada logged 10,895 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 3.5 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 94.1% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 31 Covid-related deaths for a total of 37,721 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research Survey: Covid and politics divide Canadians

TORONTO – Tensions, loss of contact between family members and many quarrels. A new survey conducted by the Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research at the University of Saskatchewan shows that more and more Canadians are moving away due to differences of opinion on various issues, many have even gone so far as to reduce contact with friends or family.

Budget 2022 and healthcare, first test for the Liberal-Ndp deal

TORONTO – Expectations are growing in view of the presentation of the 2022 Budget. All eyes are on the House of Commons, where Chrystia Freeland will present the first financial maneuver since last fall’s vote on Thursday. The interest in this budget law is also evident for another reason: it will be the first overall spending plan of the federal government after the legislature pact signed by the Liberal Party and the NDP, an agreement that if respected would guarantee the survival of the executive led by Justin Trudeau until June 2025.

Covid-19: no deaths today in Ontario, but the positivity is close to 20%

TORONTO – In the last 24 hours, no new deaths related to Covid-19 have been confirmed in Ontario (the total since the beginning of the pandemic remains at 12,470), but the province is once again seeing an increase in hospitalizations, both in ordinary wards and in intensive care. Essex: A battle ground between the NDP and the PC

Essex, a provincial electoral district in Southwestern Ontario, appears to be a riding poised for change. Current MPP Taras Natyshak has represented the constituency for the NDP since elected to office in 2011. He was re-elected in 2018 with 47.9% of the electorate (26,134 votes).
